Adaptive EDID devices cause both computers to always behave as if they are always connected to a monitor, but only one is displayed. However, with this switch, only the selected computer sees the connection to the monitor, so switching between computers is the same as connecting and disconnecting the monitor to the appropriate computer. This will cause both computers to emit a beep indicating a hardware change. Also, on computers connected to multiple monitors, the windows that were on the disabled monitor are moved to the remaining monitor, and switching back does not return those windows to their original position. If you don't care about this feature, the switch works fine.
