I've used this on a Windows 8 PC I installed both versions of the software from the disc that came with it and my first advice is just go with the VHS to DVD 3.0 software to use. don't use OBS Studio unless you're very tech savvy. I'm moderately savvy and had problems when I first tried the OBS software. I then switched to VHS to DVD software and within minutes I was filming video from an old Sony Handycam MiniDV camcorder. I captured the footage using the DVD setting because I think it gives the maximum output file size and the best quality. I then use Adobe Premiere to edit the footage. I don't know if the quality of the footage is better if you use another converter, but for creating home video strings for web streaming (or even burning to DVD) this is a very affordable and good option. I have VHS tapes that I'm going to convert with a VHS player and I doubt I'll have any options.
