Saving and archiving old films is cool!

I have sooooo many valuable home videos spanning almost my entire life! If I can find them to digitize, it'll be worth a fortune. I researched it myself and it suggested exactly what I needed! I record my old VHS movies on an old VHS player and mini DV tapes on an old camcorder. So thankful I saved all of these, I can plug them into my computer and save them! If you have old home videos, this is a must! And it's easy. I teach my teenagers to do the same to help me. Great tool/program.

  • Easy to use

A few experiments but everything works fine

Used the product with a Canon Hi8 camera and a Macbook Pro. The adapter doesn't communicate with my new MacBook Pro (which only comes with USB-C ports), but I think Apple should take the blame for that. Worked well with my previous generation MacBook Pro running from a regular USB port and playing/recording in Quicktime. A note: Canon didn't like using the component video jack (yellow), but the S-Video cable worked fine. If you hear a hum in the audio, it means your tapes are mono and not…

  • Quick replacement
Cons
  • Waiting too long

Worked as expected: Internal TV tuner and capture cards

The written instructions didn't work on my computer (windows 10) but once downloaded it was pretty easy to figure out. The editing program that came with it didn't seem to work properly, but I used it and still haven't read all the instructions. I wanted to transfer my home videos from a mini cassette to a computer and then burn them to disc and it was easy. I would give it 5 stars if the setup instructions were clearer, but maybe that's just me as I'm not very tech savvy. I am satisfied with…

i want you to like it

First of all the advantages: The installation is very easy The software is intuitive (if a bit confusing, it offers two very different versions) Good price My main problem is that this tool doesn't reproduce colors very well. What looks good when the VHS is connected to the TV doesn't transfer to the computer. The output looks very striped; Colors appear on the screen from time to time, then go back to black and white. I thought my first one was defective but got a replacement with the same…

Camcorder to MP4 works Excellent

I used this software to copy family footage from our 8mm camcorder to our computer. The package contains two pieces of software: OBS Studio and Honestech VHS to DVD. I ended up using OBS Studio because I had no intention of burning the movies to DVD - I just wanted to transfer them from tape to my computer where I could do whatever I wanted with them. Either way, install the software, connect the USB cable to your computer, the RCA cables to your camcorder, and you're done. Click Start…

  • Great selection

Terrible quality of computer components

My goal was to convert all my old family video tapes to digital format. The sound quality was great but the video quality made it impossible to view the screen capture. During recording, the video displayed on the LCD by the camera itself shows a beautiful image with color. It all depends on what is actually written to my computer by the adapter. You'll see multiple "rainbow" effects throughout the video and a permanent black box appearing and disappearing right in the center of the screen…

Works great if you have realistic expectations

I've used this on a Windows 8 PC I installed both versions of the software from the disc that came with it and my first advice is just go with the VHS to DVD 3.0 software to use. don't use OBS Studio unless you're very tech savvy. I'm moderately savvy and had problems when I first tried the OBS software. I then switched to VHS to DVD software and within minutes I was filming video from an old Sony Handycam MiniDV camcorder. I captured the footage using the DVD setting because I think it gives…
