Review on Ampersand Encausticbord Hardboard Encaustics ENC15066 by Michelle Langley

Wow, this is SO amazing. If you are an encaustic artist and have never tried them, go for it. I almost can't believe it. What difference can a prepared board make? Well if you melt your medium or encaustic wax there will be very few pinholes, perhaps because pinholes can occur due to the moisture that is always present in the wood and seals the wood. I'd almost like to say there are no pinpricks. Pinholing is one of the few things I find most challenging about encaustics. Life is too short to deal with such a problem when modern technology has solved it for us here. PLUS, the white background is really nice and makes the colors look more realistic. I can't say enough about it. It's true, as one person said, the corners are a bit (not too) brittle and can't be broken even if they were solid wood and not what it's made of (something like pressed cardboard I think). looks very strong and not fragile in normal use, otherwise be careful with all angles. In any case, this is an issue of the seller/shipper, not the manufacturer of this board. I will definitely buy more. I'm excited about this possibility, other panels would have to be plastered and such, so Gesso would have to be bought, first of all price + shipping of course, and my container is just there. In some cases, engraving the board is boring. In other cases, it may warm you to the process. It's just that we all have so little time and so much work these days, so this board is like a spa day at the studio for me. I am addicted! Just finished this size which I got when I ordered some R&F pigment sticks and they came free, another small set that is well priced here at Revain compared to many other vendors.
