I tried to connect this device to a WinXP desktop (circa 2006 with Service Pack 3 and all updates) but despite numerous attempts I was unable to connect to a wireless network to make it run This desktop was previously connected to the router but is now facing a new Win7 machine that is connected to the router. I know the wireless network is fine because I can easily connect a laptop to it in the same room. Tried with/without installing the Belkin utility that manages wireless networks. but nothing happened. The wireless network was found easily with excellent signal strength, and the utility seemed to accept the WEP password, but it didn't go any further. As far as I could tell, the problem was that it couldn't get an IP address. I suspect this is more of a software issue than a hardware issue, but I can't tell if Microsoft or Belkin is to blame. I suspect the latter because the wireless setup utility had quirks that didn't exactly inspire confidence. Also today I see that this product is no longer offered on the Belkin website - maybe that tells us something. Then I think I'll just buy a 25 foot ethernet cable and run it around the wall.
