Review on 🔪 Laguiole by Hailingshan: 8-Piece Steak Knife Set - Serrated Edge, Premium Stainless Steel, Dishwasher Safe - Complete with Gift Box by Liz Lee

Laguiole style, NOT Laguiole quality

Remember how processed cheese was sometimes called cheddar cheese? These knives are obviously made in Asia (see photo) as the "Laguiole" name is not copyrighted. So these are Laguiole STYLE knives that only remotely resemble the originals compared to the Laguioles I bought in France 20 years ago. I was drawn to them because we've been running out of knives lately and the price and dishwasher were tempting. These knives are of poor quality: for example, the handles look like they are made of cheap metal, weigh only 57 grams (vs. 100 grams of the original) and are therefore unbalanced in the hand, the blade is thin and very coarsely serrated, incomprehensible. in France, and though it goes through a hunk of meat, it's not a very pleasant journey. Not "sharp" at all. The quality is about the same as one of my cheaper kitchen knives. I wouldn't trust this tool for a decent roast as I'd rather still use a regular good quality table knife from say WMF or DeGrenne. The famous "bee" on the back of the handle is a pathetic substitute for the original (see photo), it looks like a pewter or alloy stamp and looks like an attempt to make these knives authentic. To be honest, the product description actually says "light" - Revane got that part right. If you're looking for a cheap workhorse to smash and throw for a family night out in DW, this might be the way to go. But they don't represent the perfect experience of a genuine item. Final word: CHEAP and disappointing.
