Review on 🚗 Uniden DFR1: Advanced Laser and Radar Detection for Superior 360° Protection - City and Highway Modes, Color Icon Display with Signal Strength Meter Bars by Joe Glass

When I first bought this detector I was a bit apprehensive because it was very cheap compared to other detectors and I figured that would mean it either didn't work or didn't work well enough to make a difference. I've used it for a while while commuting to work and even on vacation and have concluded that it works great and is definitely worth the money. I have to keep city mode on because my car seems to be using x-range for lane assists or something, but most officers in my area and state cops on my vacation seem to be using k-ranges and ka, so city mode is fine. It's also quite noisy. I can still hear it with my radio volume and bass turned up high. I'm getting weird k/ka readings in places where there are no cops unless their radar signal bounces very far. These wrong(?) readings happen sporadically, so I'm thinking maybe some other car brands are using the k/ka lane for lane assist or something? I do not know. I think it's too contradictory that they are sliding doors, but I could be wrong. In any case, the detector gave me a pretty decent number of cop alerts depending on the cars in front of me. I've never been stopped or anything since I got it and it definitely helped me find the sneaky cops who had really good hiding places. If you feel this isn't working, or that it's giving you enough warning, consider the following: - Cops don't always have 24-hour speed camera checks when they're on the side of the road. They might be taking a break or something. So if it didn't work when you drove past the police, that doesn't necessarily mean it doesn't work. You have radar and you have no warning. If there are cars in front of you and it turns off, you may get an alert because you realize the radar signal is bouncing off someone in front of you. If you have a newer/luxury car you should also try checking the range for things like lane departure warning and adaptive cruise control. If they're using X-range you can just leave city mode on and you should be fine (unless the cops around you are still using X-range), but if your car has the k/ka- uses areas, you might have problems because I don't. I think you can disable these groups, and even if you could, the k/ka groups are the ones most commonly used by cops. So if you turn them off, the detector becomes effectively useless. In summary, this is a great little detector for the money and I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a cheap and functional radar detector.
