Review on P3100 Label Maker Machine with Tape, Portable Bluetooth Thermal Labeler Supporting Multiple-Material Labels, Compatible with P Touch TZe Label Tape, for Android/iOS Smartphone, Black by Darryl Blumenthal

Revainrating 4 out of 5

I compare and contrast this P3100 with my Brother PTD600.

BENEFITS: ---------------* Uses the same labels as Brother P-Touch devices.* Use your smartphone to create and edit.* Compact. This thing may be mobile, but it's easy to plug into your desktop.* Is MarkDomain the same as Phomemo? Because you will be using the Phomemo app. BAD: -------------* The built in cutter is not automatic like my Brother P-Touch PTD600. This device requires you to manually press the built-in button to cut the label.* One inch of unused space on the left and right sides. There is no way to set it up. In the Phomemo app. When you are finished creating your label, the length of the label in millimeters is automatically calculated. This calculation adds one inch of white space to the left and one to the right. For example, let's say my label is 40mm long. It's possible to resize manually, but you can only increase, not decrease. If you try to go under 40mm, it will show as invalid. So all you can do is zoom in and thus increase the wasted space. What does this manual option mean? Nobody will use it.* Not as convenient as I expected. The PTD600 does not require a telephone. Sometimes I'd reach for the P3100, but then I had to find my phone. I have a Brother PTD600. I wanted this P3100 to be stripped of the PTD600 power supply. But by comparing and contrasting I understand that the PTD600 can also be wireless but requires SIX AA batteries. I forgot all that. Then everything returned. I remember hating this thing because it used so many batteries, so I used the AC adapter instead. I've been using the AC adapter for so long I forgot it needed batteries. LAUGH OUT LOUD! The PTD600 firmware has many more features than the Phomemo app. You can also connect the PTD600 to your computer for even more fun. At least there is room for the P3100. If my phone is within range then I will use the P3100. Much faster with the app. The PTD600 requires real keyboard keys to be pressed, so it's dated and slower than a touchscreen. You can view my photos to see the Brother PTD600 alongside the P3100, as well as a screen capture that gives you a tour of the Phomemo app. We will go for 4 stars.

Love creating labels with a phone app.
