Update 12/20/2016: Communicating with Cable Matters revealed that this was a batch of poorly manufactured cables that they received. offered to replace the defective cable with a cable from a different batch, which they confirmed met the requirements. The power connectors (pin 20) on either end have a wire in between that causes the monitors to feed power back to the GPU, which should never happen. If this doesn't damage your GPU, you might end up having to unplug the cable every time you want to turn on your desktop, which gets worse pretty quickly. Unfortunately, this has been hit or miss with Displayport cables on the market since many manufacturers were not VESA compliant. and ended up declassifying faulty cables like this one. My suggestion would be to do some research and find a compatible cable that doesn't have this problem, even if you end up paying more for it, because replacing your desktop parts is the way to go. expensive.
