I bought this because I wanted to tweak both audio and video with the Fire Stick 4k that comes with the Samsung 4k TV. Since my AV processor doesn't support 4k, I need to connect the Fire Stick directly to a Samsung 4k TV. I used optical return audio from the TV to the AV processor but it only supported Dolby Digital. With this device I get full 4k HDR on my TV and full Dolby Digital Plus on my AV processor. I tried to use ARC but it didn't work because of many incompatibilities. This is really the best solution. Worked almost out of the box. You need to toggle the switch on the HDMI connector (with audio) that goes to your processor.
