Review on Premium Double Hinged Waiter’s Corkscrew with True Wood Handle, Stainless Steel Wine Key including Foil Cutter by Megan Smith

Revainrating 5 out of 5

What a wonderful invention! I wish I could think about it! (*It's not just any corkscrew)

My wife loves wine. I open bottles. We've been married for over 20 years - I've opened LOTS of bottles. At first glance it seems to be an ordinary corkscrew. THIS IS NOT. Conventional bottle openers tighten when the cork is pulled out - just above the point where the corkscrew enters the cork, the corkscrew bends. A real metal corkscrew bends. It's either that or the hinge where the metal lever you put on the bottle cap fails. every time One of these two parts fails over time. This corkscrew is different. The reason standard corkscrews fail is because when you push the corkscrew all the way into the cork (*as you should with real corks so you don't break the cork in the bottle), you're force at an angle on the handle that you didn't pull the bottle straight up. This corkscrew solves that problem. It has a spring-loaded pivot in the center of the arm that you place on top of the bottle. Once you fully insert the corkscrew, press the spring-loaded part on the neck of the bottle and pull the cork out. Release the spring and pull the connector all the way out as usual. In many cases the cork is already sufficiently removed, so I just pick it up and remove it by hand. The shorter lever arm allows the corkscrew to pull the cork straight up out of the bottle with less overall force than a traditional corkscrew. You don't waste energy with the angle bending of the tool!
