The two stage lever works great and really helps to get the cork out of the bottle without too much effort. The corkscrew itself pulls the cork out well, although it tends to damage the cork more than my old opener. However, I have yet to experience the cork falling apart when opened, so it's no big deal. I bought this as a spare to keep next to the beer and wine fridge. It was inexpensive and good looking, I liked the wood accent and wasn't expecting anything amazing.
