Review on Marineland Polishing Internal Canister ML90770 by Andrew Hare

I love this item! Super quiet and nothing more. I was hesitant after reading some negative reviews but found these negatives unfounded. The suction cups on the mount are strong enough to break if you slide a small knife under the edge. Sliding down the side of the tank is not a problem as long as you press the center of the suction cups to create suction. Just practical knowledge and common sense. I've used it as both a polishing filter and a regular charcoal/fiber filter with excellent cleaning results in 40 gallons. Tank for cichlids. I would recommend cleaning the carbon/fiber elements regularly before explaining that it is not suitable as a stand alone filter. This kid is squeezing water like crazy. Nothing lies on the ground, nothing dangles in the plants. However, I think this unit might be too powerful for a small community tank. This creates a strong current for small fish. The spout can be adjusted by almost 180 degrees. Excellent surface movement and deep circulation. I used a Magnum HOT a few years ago and it looks like a smaller version of the HOT. If you like very clean, clear and sparkling aquarium water then this is for you. The only thing I don't like is the red stripe on the edge of the canister (the red color goes against the aesthetic decor of the tank). seems like a smart idea. Read and follow the instructions, use your common sense and hands on aquarium experience and I doubt you will be disappointed. Definitely a small power station. I recommend this unit for 20-30 gallon tanks. or better. Possibly as an extra quick cleaning/polishing aid for occasional use in small tanks. 55 gallons or more I think it will take two. I don't see any more sensitive species like discus being happy with the water circulation this device creates. Large, hardy hombres like cichlids do an excellent job with this. Regular cleaning of the filter cartridge/fiber is important.
