This is a much cheaper copy (at least as far as I can tell) of the AVLT power stand I'm reviewing below. I wanted to keep the second one at home because I don't want to open and close the thing every day and lug it to work or the cafรฉ. Leaving it open will knock on doors, closing it will inevitably pinch your fingers or possibly wear down the hinges (besides the effort). Note: It is also a good reading stand for even large books, ideal for studying. if you have a tutorial you want to backup. The only issue to watch out for is that with this model you're trading 50% of the original purchase price for lower quality aluminum sandblasting, which doesn't suit Macs either. It's that glossy anodizing you see on less expensive aluminum accessories that isn't quite as matte or soft as the thinner Mac-type finishes. However, if it's for work, unless you're so compulsive that the difference bothers you, take it. That this is the second of these coasters I've bought should indicate something (different AVLT performance before this clone was offered). Overview of the device replicating this copy: This laptop stand did a few things that I needed. It's sturdy enough for heavier laptops, adjustable enough to get any position you want, and matches the Mac aesthetic without ugly branding or cheap plastic components. A carrying handle is welcome. If there are any downsides it's the price and it's a must, the hinges are stiff enough to slip and you don't want to collapse to carry it around with you all the time. If you are not careful when folding, you may get your fingers caught when adjusting. Other than that, it's a great stand with no major complaints.
