Review on πŸ” Dorman 926-041: High-Quality Engine Oil Pressure Sensor With Integrated Filter for Compatible Models by Donald Gore

Problem summary and installation

To replace:1. Disconnect the connector, you may need to pull the gray plastic retainer and then push out the connector.2. Use a 27mm deep socket to loosen the sensor. A 2 inch extension and universal joint are highly recommended. Manually remove the sensor.3. I didn't have a filter in my engine (LC9) but others have a filter that you may need to replace. Pull out the filter with a long pick and replace it.4. Install the sensor by hand and tighten with a 27mm deep socket.5. Connect the sensor and check the oil pressure. My 2011 Chevy Silverado 1500 has had strange oil pressure readings for the past few months. It fluctuates during normal driving but feels extreme (20-60 psi). It also didn't make any sense in relation to the fact that it didn't slosh, dump or drop when you hit the gas. Then my truck sat for a week after a vacation and the oil pressure didn't drop to 0. So my truck's check engine light came on but the oil pressure light didn't come on. Driven slowly through the neighborhood, no ticking, no engine noise. Changed the oil pressure sensor/switch and the problem went away. It's difficult to reach as it's between the firewall and the back of the air intake.
