Works very well for this money.

After looking at a few NVRs and thinking about building my own BlueIris this one works well for the price. If you go with Amcrest's cheaper NVRs, you'll likely regret your purchase as they tend to fall behind as they approach the rated number of cameras. The ONVIF support on this NVR somewhat expands the cameras you can use, although the features on them can be a bit hit/miss. Although the NVR works well, the documentation provided is almost useless. Fortunately, the user interface is quite intuitive in all areas (native to NVR, app and web interface), although not all functions are available in all interfaces. It's not that one is better than the other, they all lack detail found elsewhere. The ONKYO receiver switches the cameras displayed on the NVR in real time when you increase or decrease the volume. The blue light on the power button is also very bright. Using a hole punch through several layers of blue tape, making a 1/4 inch diameter circle to turn on the power button, the light was dimmed. I'm still working on a workaround for the camera switch as the IR sensor in the NVR seems to be so deep that you could just tape the hole provided for it with tape as it seems the signal could continue penetrating the display elsewhere on the NVR .

Pros
  • Best in its niche
Cons
  • I will add later
