Review on Maximize Fermentation with Masontops Pickle Pipes - Waterless Airlock Lids for Wide Mouth Mason Jars - Top Quality Silicone Caps by Jimmy Moreland

Almost perfect

So I'm updating my review after reading some other customer reviews. This is important, so please note: 1. These 1-way silicone valve caps are completely foolproof as long as you don't damage them.2. Some users have complained about mold etc in their enzymes. That's because they didn't use enough salt or moldy veggies, or they just didn't wash. The salt-based enzyme is so good it can be made without a valve. You can simply put the lid on loosely and everything works perfectly. It's lactobacilli that make it perfect. It can only fail if you use too little salt or use water with chlorine etc. WITHOUT ADDITIVES YOU CANNOT get a bad product. There is no cover here. The only thing that can happen when you have a bad cap is that the pressure builds up and then suddenly releases, which can make a mess but won't hurt your enzyme. Also note: A small amount of a moldy culture of aerobic bacteria WILL ALWAYS MELT on the surface of your starter. For this reason, you should use a glass weight or other method of storing food below the surface of salt water and always in aerobic conditions. Users who complain about mold are either unaware of it or (most likely) have used too little or the wrong salt. Period. I say "period" because this type of fermentation is the most reliable. It is impossible that these lids had anything to do with the failed fermentation. Note. Most inexperienced users overfill the jar, which always results in a leak. Don't overfill the bank. Buy these (admittedly expensive) lids because you'll be using them season after season after season, saving SO MUCH MONEY, and eating healthy. Stay safe there and be sure to get vaccinated against COVID-19.
