No safe design. on soldering and soldering equipment
Worked pretty well for the price but temperatures were always inconsistent. It was always a few degrees above the dial selected value, I mostly drove it on the lowest setting of 200*, only today I just increased it and there was a loud pop followed by breaker trips. After examining the internals, it looks like a short between power and neutral, perhaps because the case has heated up over time and managed to separate the wires. Not a totally safe design if the AC connector can be subjected to mechanical and thermal stresses over time in normal use.
