Donnerton: Replacement parts

I bought a K&N 63 blower for my 2010 Tundra 5.7L. I wanted to buy a K&N 77 but wasn't sure if the metal would make a different sound or if it would cost $40 more so I settled on the K&N 63. I am not disappointed! The sound is superb from ignition start to highway acceleration. The engine roars when I accelerate and makes a squirming sound (similar to a chimney blowing). My guess is that the popping sound is coming from the edge of the heat shield. When the air intake draws in air, the gap in the fairing acts like a hose. I heard this when I installed the heat shield overlay prior to installation. I was thinking of sealing it with some kind of glue but the noise doesn't really bother me, it looks like a turbocharger. It was easy to install, the only problem was getting the bottom bracket on the hose to the heat shield just because you can't see it, but overall it was easy (about 2 hours). In terms of mpg, I noticed that the computer averaged 18.9mpg on the Tundra, compared to around 16.9-17.5mpg before the install. I checked it while filling up and it was spot on. THAT'S 2MPG! I am very satisfied with this product. Now I will definitely be putting K&N air intakes in all my cars.
