We return all nine lanterns. Made cheap.

Impressive light output and design. But I'm sending it back as defective after using them in a separate storage for about 20 hours. The plastic melts. Yes, that! I use 10,000mah NiMH batteries for the lights and after 3 hours of high power the batteries generate enough heat to melt and warp the plastic holding the battery terminals. Of the 9 bulbs I have, 3 are currently not working and the other 6 have thermal damage and will stop working soon. PROS: Very intuitive design and controls. The maximum output (reportedly 1000 lumens) is dazzling WHITE and easily illuminates a medium sized room during power outages or camping. Switching to a warm tone is just another push of a button and produces a very warm light that is actually warmer than traditional incandescent bulbs. Also light a giant campfire sound. The maximum luminous flux here approaches 700 lumens. A nice plastic hook at the base that folds down and has a wire spring lock (like a climbing carabiner) to prevent it from bouncing or knocking off what it's hanging on. The base is made of grippy rubber to prevent slipping. CONS: After you put the batteries in, the rubber button that controls all functions flashes bright green every few seconds. There is no option to disable this flashing feature. So you cannot store your "sealed" rechargeable NiMH or Lithium batteries in this flashlight for a long period of time without the battery being discharged. Another issue is the battery cover (rubber base) on the bottom. A new installation is not easy. It comes off with a quick 1/4 turn counterclockwise, but installing it after the battery is in place is trickier. Nothing complicated, but you have to put everything in the right place. Just picky.

Pros
  • Absolutely amazing!
Cons
  • Working speed
