This is the third plug timer I've had recently; each of them has its own advantages and disadvantages. What I liked about this model: - Plug with grounding (3 pins). - Timer pins are firmly attached and cannot be lost. a standard pair of sockets, with the body facing up for access to the switch - Quiet operation What I didn't like: (Two minor things and one clear lack of functionality) - The pin just above the current time can get stuck, can't be pressed until you turn the timer. (It hangs on an internal mechanical switch.) Not a big deal, just a small one-time problem (after you install it). It's a bit odd that the hand pointing to the current time is aligned at about 1:00 (a little to the right of center) instead of 12:00. Again, it doesn't matter once you get used to it. Here's my main issue with this timer: There's no way to manually turn off the power. The on/off switch isn't a toggle switch, it's a slider that toggles between "always on" and "depending on timer on/off setting". - This means you cannot use the switch to turn off the power supply during the timer's on cycle. - You can only use it to turn on the power and cancel the timer's power off cycle. - It's annoying when you want to turn off the light for a few minutes during its normal "on" period. You must actually disable the item to turn it off, or use the item's own switch if it has one. (I don't.) -If you turn something on with a switch, it stays on forever until you manually toggle it back. The timer does not take control during the next power cycle like other timers do. Again, this is just a downside if you prefer the opposite of what I do. I can't help feeling that the on/off switch could be better thought out in this regard. Both of the other timer models I own have an on/off toggle switch that works both ways regardless of whether the timer is currently on or off. I prefer this as I actually use this feature. And both resume normal timer operation after being overridden without having to be touched again. I find that very preferable. That complaint aside, however, this is a great timer. I like the look and size and it's easy to install. If manually overriding is not a problem and you just want the timer to "set and leave", then don't hesitate to choose that.
