Subjectively, but after using the OP - for me this is a necessary feature, because. sometimes you have to often be distracted from the music, and instead of simply connecting both headphones, you have to reach for the remote and pause, which in some applications may not work yet (in principle, this is longer if you were distracted by a conversation).
