Review on Canon PowerShot Digital Image Stabilized Optical by Shane Picot

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great little camera

This is my third Canon Powershot (other 110 and 260). I like all three and am very happy with the image quality and reliability of the older two which played a big part in the choice of this model. Digital camera technology has evolved so rapidly that the capabilities of this model far surpass those of the first two. Pros: Image stabilization: works well, allows you to take handheld photos of still objects in low light without a flash. Face AF: I thought this was a useless gimmick, but (surprisingly) it actually works. When this function is activated, the camera searches for faces and draws rectangles on the LCD viewfinder around the found ones; it then focuses on those parts of the image. Great 30fps 640x480 resolution videos that can last as long as memory allows. one in your pocket, not the one you left at home"). Removable battery with compact multi-voltage charger included. Larger zoom range than usual, including medium wide angle. long for most astronomical fast charge times, imperceptible Shutter lag short recycling time - first digital camera I've owned that doesn't keep me waiting Charger not compatible with older Canon Powershot cameras Controls are small and a bit awkward for adult fingers Very lucky kid to get one , probably won't have a problem, I'd like to see a compact digital camera with a reflective flash, this camera's flash (like others) produces harsh flat light and red-eye and has a very limited range.Wireless slave flash is available, but (according to what I've read) works only when the built-in flash is on . Underwater Housing (Canon WP-DC9) will be available soon (hooray!), but at a price that isn't much lower. cameras (boo!). I want a rainproof compact digital camera that can withstand the occasional submersion in water without an expensive and bulky body. Most of the case is metal but one end (including the battery/flash card cover) is plastic and in my opinion this requires careful handling to avoid breakage. It's a step backwards from previous Powershots I've used, which have a durable metal body that can withstand the occasional tinkle.

Pros
  • Great for a small home
Cons
  • Upgradeable
