Amazing sounding cartridge. I'm using a Dl-301 II with a Denon PRA-1500 preamp with an MC phono stage input setup that matches the cartridge well at the recommended 100 ohm load and using an additional FET differential front end. Thanks to the equally well designed MC phono stage, no step-up transformer should be needed with this pickup. I also have a Denon DL-110 High Output MC head, which also sounds great, but in comparison the first thing I noticed about the DL-301 is the incredibly higher resolution and resolution in the mids. (The bass and treble sound great, too.) The well-recorded test track "Dreams" on the Fleetwood Mac Rumors LP has never sounded better. Compatibility The DL-301 also fits light to medium-weight tonearms. Measured resonant frequency with my mid-mass arm = 8Hz. Finally, like the DL-110, the DL-301 seems to go deeper into the groove where older, frequently played records may suffer less wear, improving fidelity and reducing surface noise.
