I'm not a fan of surprises, so the bag in the trunk of the car is full of all sorts of things. And today I will share a review of the wheel chocks ("shoes"). A thing, unlike a first aid kit and a fire extinguisher, is not mandatory (if you do not drive a truck), but very necessary, as it is designed to ensure the immobility of the car when lifting on a jack, for example, when changing a wheel. By the way, I have seen several times how a car with a wheel removed from a jack fell off a jack (a spectacle not for the faint of heart), so I consider such stops to be mandatory. Before that, I carried plastic "shoes" with me, which I used only three times in 6 years. And so, removing the nail from the wheel, I, as expected, supported the diagonal wheel with stops, and then, having completed the repair, I drove off, simply forgetting to remove them. As a result, one of the stops turned into a pile of small fragments with sharp edges. Good thing the wheel didn't break. After that, I bought new rubber "boots" from the Russian-Chinese manufacturer MATRIX. In any case, it was written on the store's website, but on the stops themselves (they were supplied without branded packaging), there is no information about either the manufacturer or the model. The emphasis has impressive dimensions: the base is 20 * 8 cm, the height in the maximum part is 11 cm. It is more than enough to hold not only a passenger car, but also quite a serious SUV. Of course, the stop will not keep the car on a big slope. But this is not required of him, he has a completely different task. The stop is made of thick hard rubber, which allows you to count on its durability. For better grip, the "shoe" has longitudinal ribs. The quality of rubber molding, of course, leaves much to be desired. Although, to be honest, it doesnβt matter, the appearance does not affect its other qualities in any way. Moreover, when the stops are suddenly needed, their aesthetic perception goes far to the 10th plan. For the sake of interest, I tried the stops, propping the car up on a jack (on a flat surface, without removing the wheel, in neutral, without installing the handbrake). Then I tried (without fanaticism) to push the car off the jack. It didn't work for me. That is, the stops perfectly coped with their task. Passage on an emphasis by a wheel also has not left on it any damages. The advantage of the rubber stop, in addition to durability (there is simply nothing to break in it), I also see its simple washing. It won't break like plastic, it won't rust like metal. Dirt won't hurt him. The only trouble that can happen to him is that he can get lost. For 100 rubles apiece, I think it is an absolutely necessary thing in every car! Thank you for your attention.
