Review on Retractable Extends Outdoor Doorways Hallways by Rebecca Bright

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Two installation kits, my second favorite out of 4

I ordered 4 different retractable child gates at once and compared them. This is one of the most adaptable options as it comes with two sets of brackets (so you can move the gate if needed) and the bottom bracket slides up and down the gate to avoid obstacles like the bottom bar. The extra fixing is somewhat of a distraction as the somewhat cheap fixing latch is used to separate the gate from the wall. It's unlikely to break in use as it doesn't carry the load like a gate mount. It will be a piece of plastic that will repeatedly bend if you use this gate in two places and I can imagine it breaking making this gate less safe to use. So I'd advise avoiding daily moving and these gates are strong enough for normal use. Regarding the extension width, the product page says 56 inches and I measured it at 71 inches. Check out my photo for how I measured it, but it includes the base in length (so subtract a few inches if you pull to the side). When installing, remember that they rotate in the same direction. So if you drag the gate to the right it will be more flush with the wall than if you drag it to the left. The locking system works well but is a bit unintuitive. Nothing you can't get used to, but this ease of use is very important as you need to lock the gate to withstand any force when opening it. It only took about 2kg of force to open the gate, so it takes about the same force to push it further out after you've been hooked when it's not latched. System, I can imagine setting it up in all sorts of ways. A flexible gate allows you to wrap part of it around the edge of a shelf or wall corner, or even block the shelf itself if needed. Of course, this also works for doorways and wide hallways, but I imagine it's useful in many places when you need to block weird stuff.
