Review on ๐Ÿงต Compact and Lightweight Sewing Machine for Kids with Heavy Duty Performance, Easy-to-Use Features, and Multiple Stitch Options by Doris Tran

Much luck! I'll write another review if/when I figure out how to get it working consistently.

I have been sewing for 65 years and wanted a basic sewing machine for my grandchildren. Ordered on Wednesday, the machine and project book PRONTO arrived the day after ordering when I didn't expect anything to arrive before the weekend. I was so surprised! Well done Revan! I was able to use it with my five year old granddaughter on a Friday. The machine initially sewed flawlessly on test patterns. Then the needle thread started snapping as we started a very small project for doll clothes - 2-1/2" seams and 2-3" seams. Confused, I watched several YouTube videos. I replaced the thread that was in my stash with a higher quality thread and also changed the thread in the spool and needle. Three hours later, the pattern for the doll's clothes was sewn. I'm working on adjusting the tension and will be using some needles from my own stash to see if I can get the machine to sew more than 30 stitches at a time before the thread breaks AGAIN. If my eyes were younger it would be a lot easier to thread a machine needle. After 20 or 30 needle threads in quick succession, my eyes cloud over. It is important to ensure that the suture take-up is in its highest position when threading, as any slack will cause the suture to sag/fall out in the step prior to threading the suture take-up. This breaks the thread. The on/variable power switch is a nice feature, as is being able to run on batteries. The stitch variety is also a nice feature that makes the machine more versatile. In addition, it is very desirable to be able to perform reverse stitches. I'm looking forward to figuring out how to get it working long before my next grandma/granddaughter sewing session. UPDATE: I am updating my review. I changed the needle from my stash (#11) and changed the tension from a 2 to a 3. Stitching should start with the needle up for best results. Each turn should start from the lower needle position and start sewing from the upper needle position. It's still not perfect, but more in line with the big changes I've introduced. It is hanging somewhere, which leads to abrasion of the thread and subsequent thread breakage. I think the wings will learn from my priest. Using a less-than-great machine, no matter how simple, isn't that simple in the long run.

Pros
  • Very good value for money
Cons
  • Unbelievable price
