The waterproof factor makes them feel really different, almost as if they are made of plastic. However, they are still comfortable to wear. The description calls them ultra thin but compared to a dress sock, they are thick. Compared to a heavy wool sock, they are thinner.They do keep the feet dry when you walk through water though, which is the whole idea of them. I got these for the child that is going off to college this fall and will be in a climate much colder and snowier than he is used to. Even though he has boots to take, I know he will prefer his sneakers and be walking through some wet stuff from time to time. I think they just might be the only way to keep his feet dry some days.
