Review on AcuRite 01226M Indoor Humidity Monitor by Jorge Kehayas

Revainrating 2 out of 5

The display broke after a few months. Not precise enough.

First, the quality is disappointing. I ordered two of these and can put them side by side and they never show the same settings. Aggravating. I could tell a few percent difference in humidity and a difference of a degree or two, but usually they differed by 4 or 5 degrees and sometimes even 6 degrees in temperature! The second already has a broken display and there are multiple segments in the low temp gauge so you can't read it properly (see image, bottom left should say 70F but some parts of the zero are missing). There are a few things I don't like. First, there is no easy way to reset memory high/low. It seems to remember as long as the battery is installed that to reset I have to remove and reinstall the battery. And removing the battery cover is too difficult, too difficult to open. Second, I don't like seeing the humidity from above. Me and some friends who looked at it said the temp should be on top and the humidity should be on the bottom. Of course this is personal preference but to me it makes sense to see the temperature first and then the humidity, several people who looked at this assumed the top number was for temperature. Above all, I can positively say that the housing is very good, feels and looks like high-quality plastic. I also like that it uses an AA battery instead of an AAA battery. If they were more accurate I could probably ignore the moisture from above and be happier with them.

Pros
  • Everything is fine!
