My husband and I often take a break on camping trips – mind you, autocamp. We often take our dog with us and have a problem: our dog, who grew up with well water, does not drink city water. So we have to bring water for them and for us. For a night or two, this isn't a problem - a case of mineral water is fine. But for four days or a week we need more. I filled up a water bottle (bought at the same time as this BPA-free bottle from New Wave Envrio Products, 5 gallon pump) at home before I left, used the screw cap that came with the bottle, and off we went. (Note: the water bottle didn't leak at all with the cap on.) When we got to the campground, everything set up, I lugged the (yes, it's heavy, but bearable) water bottle onto the table, assembled the pump, and fixed it . (I also did this at home before leaving so I could run water through it to get rid of any residue from the production.) I was surprised that as soon as the pump was pushed down about halfway, the water started spewing out. from the pump. Actually, no primer is required, it's easy to do! As the water level got lower and lower it took a few more pumps to get the water out with good pressure but even then I had no complaints about the performance of this pump.
