With my Shark Liftaway of many years, everything worked perfectly. I should have replaced much sooner, the suction was much better although I religiously rinsed the other filters. I sucked and hit the front filter cover and it popped out, I was like new. Upon further investigation, I found that pressure was building behind the filter. When viewed under magnification, the filter fibers were badly worn and were restricting airflow, as was dirt. The vacuum still had enough suction to pick up what I could see, but it certainly didn't perform to its full potential. For the price, I'll change the filter more often.
