These are the essential brake/shift cables for road bikes. They look and work almost the same. After installation, they work perfectly. However, I have noticed that as soon as I cut the brake cables to size, the end of the cable wears out immediately. Other cables I've used don't do this. It's okay, but makes it a little more difficult to put the end cap on before crimping (you have to collect all the worn wires, but at this price point you won't find anything better). EDIT: Brake cable heads are square and larger than standard highway brake cables which have a domed head rather than a cylinder head like this one (and I don't mean MTB style cables which are also different). Some brake levers will fit them, but in others (like the Shimano 600 brakes I just tried them on) the head is too big for the brake to close properly. I had to sand it down with a dremel to get it to fit. Standard street cable.
