I started buying these for storing sensitive data a few years ago. After a year of daily use, I bought a new device and copied all the data from the old device to the new one. I don't know if it was really necessary or not, but I figured it couldn't hurt and it gave me an annual backup of the device's contents. I've been doing this for four years and haven't had any problems with these devices. By inserting these into your computer (I've only used them on Windows systems with USB ports), you provide a CD image that loads software that gives you access to important data on the device. You can choose your own password (encryption key) and it must be supplied with each mount in order to read/write your data. The device is fast, I can run the application in real time with databases and help files that are on this device and it has a long lifespan. I always carry it with me in my pocket with my keys, so the appearance of the case fades a bit over time, but the device still works perfectly. They are very easy to use, offer excellent data protection and are powerful. I think they are worth the money for what you get.
