I liked the fact that it is compact, lightweight and very portable. It's not a high volume device by any means, but if you want to selectively check an area and produce some panning concentrate, it does the job perfectly. My only concern is that there are a number of small plastic parts that can get lost if dropped into fast moving water. Since each part is critical to the overall operation of the device as a whole, every single part gets lost or damaged and the whole becomes useless. The funnel legs, concentrate bowl, or centering ring are the most vulnerable and cannot be purchased from the store.
