Review on Magna-Flip Clip-On Flip-Up & Down Reader Magnifiers | Convert Distance Glasses & Sunglasses to Reading and Computer Glasses | +1.25 Power by Magna-Flip by Laura Jackson

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Outstanding foresight.

I recently bought some +2.00 diopters of the same model and have only recently started using them for computer work. It took me a while to get used to many of these clips on my glasses (and I'm still embarrassed to wear them in public). But the real problem was that the solution wasn't quite right - I had to get closer to the computer than I was comfortable with. So I have these +1.25 diopters and they're perfect - I can sit back and read like I'm a kid again (maybe better than when I was a kid!). The big advantage is that these +1.25s are much thinner and lighter than the +2.00s. A few words about the correction I chose: When I received the prescription, the doctor stated that my "Add" was +2.25. I got +2.00 because I couldn't find +2.25 at the time. But it turns out that "add" was actually for bifocals intended for reading and things that are significantly closer than I like for my computing use. Therefore, to get a good view of the screen at +2.00, I had to lean forward. So I went to the Walmart reading glasses display and put the reading glasses ABOVE my regular glasses. I've found that +1.00 to +1.25 works very well for me at arm's length. So before you buy these slip-on glasses, I recommend you figure out how far they're supposed to work, and then go to the pharmacy and try on reading glasses over your existing glasses at the desired distance. Choosing the right diopter number is there is likely a range of adjustments that will work for you, but the question is at what distance? Note, however, that the lower the dioptric power of the clipons, the further away from the object of interest they will work. If you want to get closer, choose a higher diopter number. One more thing, I have a couple of frames that go well with these ear clips (I won't be contacting any online eyewear retailer, I'll search google with "vintage style"). , Bronze Aviator Goggles "Open" and look at the pictures). Very affordable and very shape compatible with these clips. Update 11/26/2018: After almost a year of continuous use I need a new pair as the spring holding them has become loose. I use them for all my home renovation projects so they see a lot of sweat. I also use them on my computer. I will keep my old pair in my car or near my computer as they are still very good looking. November 29th: A new pair arrived today and they are wonderful. Gone is the gold colored metal - now it's all black which I like more (less noticeable when wearing in public). The folding mechanism seems to have been improved as it clicks when opened. The old version never felt tight when opened. Very satisfied! 07/04/2019: After 8 months of continuous use I lost the screw so I bought a new pair. I use them every day now. Part of the plastic cover of the clip is worn. They are irreplaceable and for the price I don't mind buying them annually.
