I have a couple of "regular" sockets with rubber inserts. I didn't even know this magnetic guy existed until I saw him in a YouTube video. This works SOOOOOOO much better. The short swivel extension gives enough room to reach the head of my Toyota Avalon. The top of the extension was almost flush with the valve cover when the plug was fully screwed in. I had to add a short extension and my socket wrench to complete the last 1/2 turn to seat them. The magnet was strong enough to hold the connectors in place as I removed the old ones and inserted the new ones. In fact, I had little concern that it might be stronger than the latch on the extension. I thought it might disconnect the extension cords instead of detaching from the plug, but that didn't turn out to be a problem. The guy in the video had a set that had multiple extensions of different lengths built into it. straight (or oscillating) extension of whatever length you have in your tool box. In any case, a short oscillating tip on this socket makes sense to get to hard-to-reach places.
