Cyan cartridge not working

I ordered 902XL cyan and magenta back in August 2020. My old cartridges weren't quite empty so I waited for the new ones to go in. I recently installed them and the printer gave me an error message saying one of the cartridges was defective and I thought it was the cyan cartridge. Of course it's too late to go back, and a new one is worth a fortune now, if one can be found at all. Apparently cyan cartridges are poorly processed. Now I'm stuck with my old cyan cartridge which is almost empty.
