I was under the impression that this tool would make these blocks faster, in fact it took a very long time. The instructions weren't the clearest, and the proprietary video was even less clear. After working with 3 4 inch blocks it seems a bit easier and less confusing after going back to other YouTube videos few times. I can't imagine how to make an entire quilt with a mini ruler, but I love the look of the blocks. using this smaller version is best. Although it will take a lot longer next time I would do a 6 inch version of the blocks, at least you could turn them into potholders or coasters. You could probably sew 3 or 4 rows of 4 inch blocks to make the front and back of the beach bag, but this is really time consuming. (That block size is also perfect for a doll blanket!) All stripes start at 1 1/4" WOF, then each round requires undercuts, and the accuracy of those undercuts is wrong in the written instructions for one of the rounds. If you don't have a very precise one 1.5" square in the center, the entire block will be missing as several consecutive rounds will be cut off based on the ruler being centered over that square. Therefore, accurate measurements for that central square are extremely important for this. (Check your ruler to make sure your 1 1/4" cuts line up with the center 1 1/4" square in that ruler). Finding the right fabrics to really block the pattern is a little tricky to stand out if you use prints for each round (light and dark or contrasting), so the fabric collection you work with also makes a big difference (small prints are useful, but g large prints can also work). I looked at all the other lines from this company. and none of the others seemed worth exploring. So if I had to pick one, am I glad I chose this one to explore? (I just wanted to treat myself to something new and have fun trying.) After making 4 blocks it was just boring and tedious and not worth the effort to make a whole blanket out of that line, but I see that in the future come in handy for making potholders or coasters, maybe with some leftover fabric from another quilting project using a 6 inch block. (I used some squares and strips for jelly rolls, which wasn't the best use for those pre-cut pieces, but a honey roll, e.g. from Moda, would be perfect (they don't have 1 1/4" strips that could be 1 1/2" strips, you simply cut more fabric but more efficiently than 2.5" strips. Unfortunately there are no 1 1/4" Accu Quilt or Sizzix ribbon dies to minimize waste and slow down the cutting process speed up .but you can use a 1 1/2" Accu Quilt Tape Stamp if you want to make an entire quilt. If you're considering this ruler, I'd go with the larger one for all the time it takes cutting , trimming and ironing for each round, you will end up with a whole quilt full of blocks which should be faster in the same time with such a tedious process I have never attempted to make a pineapple quilt block without this ruler it is hard to say if this process it meh r make will be precise or simple. Hope this review helps!
