Review on πŸ“€ Sony BDP-S185 Blu-Ray Disc Player (2012 Model): High-Quality Entertainment at Your Fingertips by Bryan Turner

Streaming of videos on the Internet; Oh yeah!

Surprised by the small size of the "Sony BDP-S185 1080p Blu-Ray DVD Player". The device is only 7.4 inches deep, 11.4 inches long, 1.6 inches thick and weighs only 3 pounds! However, the device includes all the ports you would expect from a basic Blu-ray DVD player. The HDMI connection was routed to the Sony HT-CT150 cinema system; Since the audio is also transmitted through the HDMI cable, no additional connection was required other than an RJ-45 cable that runs straight to the wall plate. After plugging it in and turning it on, I set up the Sony BDP-S185 1080p Blu. -Network connection Ray DVD player; if you have DHCP enabled (most AT&T and Comcast cable boxes), The device automatically receives an IP address. I preferred to set the IP address and DNS settings manually. I bought two of these devices; I put one in the family room and the other in the master bedroom. I had no problems with the last device, but the device in the family room is defective. During the first month of use, the device worked as expected in the family room, but then the internet connection started dropping. I did a few troubleshooting steps but nothing worked so I went to Google where another Sony BDP-S185 user suggested using Google's public DNS servers in the primary and secondary DNS settings viz (8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 ). After entering the addresses I had no problems trying to connect to the internet, but 2 days ago when I was streaming a video from Netflix, the screen started flickering badly. At first I thought it might be a TV so I switched to live and the picture was ok. I then switched back to streaming and the picture was fine so I don't know if the device or the stream is to blame. Apart from these (minor) glitches, the performance of the Sony BDP-S185 was outstanding. As I don't have a 7.1 channel audio/video system (the Sony HT-CT150 mentioned above is a 3.1 channel system) I can't comment on this feature, but the sound through the Sony HT-CT150 is more than sufficient. Ditto for the sound through the Bose Solo (sleeping unit). The picture quality of the Blu-Ray Disc playback is simply outstanding! Paired with one of my Samsung HDTVs, colors are rich, vibrant, amazingly sharp and clear. and everything I heard maybe blu ray. The loading time is minimal. Regular DVD playback is excellent too, and to be honest there's very little difference between the two formats. And of course, any audio formatting is present too. Conclusion Despite the issue I had with the family room unit and may yet need to replace it, I'm happy with the Sony BDP-S185 1080p Blu-ray DVD player. The device is small but very versatile and fully functional. I have yet to explore all the online/streaming options the device has to offer but look forward to the opening hours. If you're looking for a compact, affordable ($87.47 at Revain.com), versatile Blu-ray streaming player, take a look at the Sony BDP-S185 1080p Blu-ray DVD Player. There is little difference between the two formats. And of course, any audio formatting is also present.
