As with most outdoor sportswear, it really has to be ordered. I'm 5'9" and 185 pounds. I'm slightly overweight (mainly thanks to grad school and lack of sleep) but not obese in my imagination. I usually wear medium to large sized tops and bottoms. I wear US size 10 pants. After trying on other windbreakers/raincoats at a local co-op, I ordered this jacket in a size XL. It still hugs the hips a bit but I'm happy with the length of the body. It's perfect for warmer weather/ cooler spring evenings. The hood rolls into the collar if you don't want it to dangle. Overall, considering the coat cost a lot more than I paid, I'm very happy with this purchase.
