The best value for money drywall knife I've seen.

This is my wife's account but I am writing the review. I've been in the drywall/plastering/wall and ceiling repair industry in Greenville for over 40 years and I absolutely love this set of wide blades. I was originally looking for a 10 inch knife to replace the one I was using. One of the rivets broke off and the blade seemed to swing back and forth on the hilt. It didn't sink much, but I was concerned that if another rivet breaks I might end up on top of the wall, so I have the choice of using 8 or 12 inches. When I saw this set, I bought it immediately. A decent 10" stainless steel knife, or pretty much any size, is $10-$15 at Home Depot/Lowes, but 5 knives from Goldblatt (which have been around for years) for less than $35 sounded almost too good to buy to be true. Well it wasn't too good to be true. All knives are high quality wide knives with good balance and blade. These are travel knives. The smaller handle offers a great grip and the blade bar next to the handle offers comfortable finger placement for all aspects of control. Due to the smaller pen size, you will need to thin the compound for good results. You'll wear out your wrist trying to use dirt straight out of the box/bucket. I am particularly pleased with the 6 inch. I've been using this 6 inch style for a few years now and have had trouble finding them at a reasonable price. Home Depot doesn't carry this style and Lowes may carry them, but it's unknown if they stock them. They can be found at your local drywall supply stores, but they cost up to $30. This 6" style not only offers a sharper angle, but is also much more secure than what is commonly sold as a 6" model. If you break through a wall and the knife suddenly stops due to a protruding screw/nail, your hand is protected by a blade plate. I've seen several people cut their hand between the thumb and forefinger with the standard 6 inch style of knife. Overall this is a great deal and I am very happy with my purchase.
