The product is heavily built but NOT sharp as others have said. I sharpen cutlery as a hobby. What these people refer to as sharp are the burrs that are created during the manufacturing process. Do not believe me? Take a napkin and go "with" the ledges. They can come loose with use, but I removed the Drexel burrs, took a round file and sharpened the holes. Now sharp! Also, I can't see how the unit is assembled (possibly glued) so I wouldn't put it in the dishwasher, which is probably why so many people complain about separation issues. However, I would buy it again.
