Determining the size of clothes for dogs is always very difficult, but after reading a million reviews, I understood everything! So I pay in advance and give you information about my dog. I bought food for my older 20 lb pug who was stocky but not overweight. Its length from the base of the neck to the end is 15 inches. There are two sets of quality buttons on the collar of the coat and when I used the large setting, it fitted my boyfriend perfectly. The belt on the stomach was a long velcro and it was bigger. than enough to enclose his stomach, and it didn't cover his male parts at all. On the back there is an opening with a small flap that closes it to attach a leash. Possibly best for a leash with a collar, but I made it work for my friend's belt. It just pushes the coat back a little and makes it tighter around the neck, but I had some room left. I've attached two photos - one with and one without the belt loops. Hope the cost works for your furry friend!
