My 8 year old QNAP TS-669 Pro power supply fan finally failed recently and is making an annoying noise intermittently. After checking the PS's specs online, I found that the unit's fans can be replaced — and it's really easy. Once I was sure the fans would fit, I ordered a 40mm PS fan and a couple of 92mm fans to keep the noise down. connected directly. Cable routing was a little tricky in the smaller box, but the fans also include an extension cable that's more than adequate for the task. They run immediately after starting and are noticeably quieter than the original fans. Pretty happy - just wish I hadn't thought of that half a decade ago instead of listening to these two fans working at my desk 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. I'll know for sure in the summer, but for now it was definitely a good buy. I have replaced all my computer fans with Noctua fans to keep noise to a minimum and they have proven to be consistently reliable which is why I recommend them. others are looking for fans for a similar application.
