I used this to sew some straps and buckles onto a pallet truck to stabilize boxes that seem to move when being moved over uneven concrete and concrete edges . I watched a few YouTube videos and once I figured out which side of the needle I needed, all went well. When working with thick fabrics, leather, etc., thimbles and the method of stabilizing parts work better than no thimble. (I used small paper clips to hold the pieces together and hold them in place as I sew. I'm not an experienced seamstress, but the straps held the buckles and boxes very well after I was finished. And black thread on black fabric does this .easy to show my beginner skills.
