Review on Enhance Precision with DMD 2008 Whetstone Sharpener Diamond Sharpening Tool by Adam Taylor

Compared to Diamond Machine Technology (DMT)

Summary: This product is a three-grit diamond whetstone with a convenient water tank. Diamond grinding was popularized by the industry leader Diamond Machining Technology (DMT) [please note this product is DM"D" which is unrelated]. Oil. Have many DMT products and they are the industry leader. There are several sharpening systems available to you including Wicked Edge, EdgePro and a few other less expensive brands. I can also sharpen by hand. There is no substitute for learning proper sharpening techniques no matter what system or type of stone you are using. Observations: Despite the similarity in concept, I have not found any diamonds that compare to DMT stones in terms of both cut quality and durability. Recommendations: 1) When sharpening with a diamond, let the stones do their work; Trying to push harder will accelerate wear on the stones. 2) When it comes to sharpening at an angle, constant adjustment and movement is key to a good sharpening; 3) Diamond stones require a break-in period, they get rougher in the first few cycles of sharpening so I started with my whip knife and then progressed to kitchen knives; 4) Start with the finest grit, in my case I mostly use 1200 as 150/325 grit only really makes sense for reprofiling. Pros: decent diamond stones; Durable bearing shell specifically designed to accommodate 3-sided stone. Cons: 1) Instructions are missing key setup information, 2) System would be much more useful with a 400/600 diamond brick instead of 325, 3) DMD also offers the same triple brick as a socketed bank; The same base would be great to include in this bathroom setup so you can use the stone dryer as well. -Stars [Price].Related Products:Diamond Processing Technologyhttps://smile.amazon.com/stores/Diamond+Machine+Technology+%28DMT%29/page/DAE551D2-AA52-4AA5-84E8-9F0707250490?ref_=ast_bln
