No USB-C device for computer components

Tengertang held the bait, IMHO. An external DVD/CD drive which I initially settled on and had been on my shopping list for a while with good reviews. After receiving the package I went back to my order and it was tied to a device with zero reviews. What?! This is NOT USB-C, just USB 2.0. It has a USB-C connector that doesn't work when plugged directly into a USB-C port. Luckily, it came with an adapter for the Type A plug, the older, slightly ubiquitous larger type. The only good news is I can get it working for what I needed most - ripping music CDs into iTunes for uploading to my media server. I need to connect this device to a Type-A adapter and then to a Type-A to Type-C adapter that plugs into the USB-C port on my new Apple MacBook model. A real trick, but at least that's how it seems to work. (This is a repost of a review I wrote last year and removed on March 17, 2020 at the request of a vendor who promised credit if I removed my review. .)
