I bought a used MTN bike and quickly found that the bottom bracket was defective. I am a toolmaker and generally prefer to buy more expensive instruments. But in the end I decided that I don't have enough space, I won't use it often, and if it doesn't work I can change it. I installed a 30mm Raceface BB92 double row RCA bottom bracket (BB19BB899230DR) one bearing at a time into my aluminum frame very easily. Since contact washers have no centering function, I had to manually re-center the clamping device once for each bearing when inserting it. Once I applied tension it stayed in place. Compression bearings provide smooth tightening, which is important to know when the bearing is fully seated. I didn't have to do anything to keep the bearings straight while they were being pressed in. Everything went great and I'm going again. Although this is a minimalist tool, the build quality is quite good.
