Bought for red light filter. This is so important when you read at night. It is also helpful not to disturb your spouse. Finally, it is also very useful when walking in the dark, especially in a hotel room or in an unfamiliar place. For all these reasons, I buy this lamp again and again. Was tempted to upgrade to the 3 light version as I usually use my 6 light version at lower settings and it's cheaper. So if I have to repurchase because mine breaks every few years, the $19.99 version might be a better idea for me. I will buy a 4th. My first two broke. My husband is still working at the moment. My last one is very dull with fresh batteries. so boring I can't read it anymore.
