Made of aluminium, with "plastic" ball and looks very solid. It's relatively short, which is fine for my use of the Garmin Striker Plus 4 sonar on the center console of a VIBE SG13 SOT fishing kayak. The hole pattern on the round plates corresponds to the Garmin and VIBE hole pattern (just rotate until you find the right combination). Offers unlimited possibilities to make the screen visible in variable light conditions. At first I thought it was overkill but now I think it's a necessity. I mounted it relatively close to my seat for easy access to the Garmin buttons.
